Graduation Cake for a New Accountant

Graduation Cake

This graduation cake was made for a young lady who just received her bachelor degree in Accounting.

All the decorations are made with gum paste.  Here is the graduation cap with the tassel details.

Here are the diploma roll with ribbon and a pink rose.

Of course, what accountant can go without a calculator and  a pencil?

Congratulations to the new grad!

Dogwood Cake for a Luncheon

Many flower trees bloom in the spring including dogwood.  These beautiful large and flat flowers, when blooming, look as though they are suspended in the air.

According to www.myflowermeanings.com, “the Dogwood flower means endurance, for durability through all seasons.”  This cake was made for a luncheon meeting of a few good friends.  I think the meaning of the flower was the perfect symbol for the friendships that have formed among them.

I created a new cake flavor for this Dogwood Cake, a green tea sponge cake with vanilla pastry cream, covered with green tea chocolate ganache.  This is a wonderful cake for green tea lovers.

Cherry Blossom Cake – 3

Cherry flowers are such beautiful little flowers that I was inpired to make yet another cherry blossom cake.

The cherry blossom flowers are made with gum paste, dusted with pearl dust and finished with royal icing piping.

This is a rich chocolate cake covered filled with cherry filling and chocolate ganache.

Cherry Blossom Cake – 2

To celebrate Mina’s birthday, I was inspired by her Japanese heritage and the season of sakura.

This two tier petite cake is covered with vanilla rolled fondant and small flower cutouts.

The cake is a Lady Baltimore cake with Vanilla Buttercream and Cherry filling.

Noah’s Ark Cake for a Baby Shower

This cake was made for a baby shower with Noah’s Ark theme.  The cake is a Strawberry Sponge Cake with Whipped Cream Icing as the mother-to-be, I was told, liked light cakes and fruits.

Since a sponge cake with whipped cream icing cannot handle any heavy decorations on the top, I opted with hand painted rolled fondnat.  Each piece was painted with edible color and then cut out and assembled.

I have to give my wonderful multi-talented husband credit for drawing the giraffe, lion, and the monkey.  They are adorable!

Beach and Sailboat Cake

This cake was made for a young lady who enjoys the beach and sailing.  I created a ombre color effect for each layer which is a bit difficult to see from the picture unfortunately.

Small Cherry Blossom Cake

A very last minute order for a 6″ chocolate ganache cake for a birthday.

Gone Fishing Birthday Cake

Mabel’s older brother was about to have another birthday again.  However, this year’s birthday is more special than others.  He was also going to retire on the day of his birthday!

Mabel’s brother, I was told, liked fishing and bright colors.  Since he was about to really “gone fishing” at leisure, I thought lounging in the fishing boat would be most appropriate.

The fishing rod has the details of reel, guides under the rod, and fishing line.  (Yes, I confess I am no fishing expert and I cheated by Googling “fishing rod” to figure out these terminologies.)

Here’s the bait box with a little lady bug resting on top.

As our fisherman lounges, little animal friends are out to check him out including the fishes that are evading the fish hook!

There are also colorful and whimsical fish swimming among water plants.

This is the ultimate relaxation cake.  Happy birthday to Mabel’s brother!

Safari Cake

Along the theme of Africa, this is a cake very simply decorated with a safari scene: A pair of giraffes walking together on an open African safari under the setting sun. This will be a place I will visit one day.

Here’s a slice of the cut cake.
